Rita Valentine Dog Park Improvements

Chuck’s Grove

Charles (Chuck) Dunnigan recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. During his courageous fight against the cancer he and Donna talked about what he would like to do for the community. Donna said the only thing she and Chuck could think of was to contribute a grove of Aspen trees to go into Rita Valentine Dog Park. It would be the perfect way to support the community and help the non-profit group Steamboat Digs Dogs and the City in their efforts to improve the park. A group of friends is going to donate a bench with his name and in his honor to be in the grove. To Chuck and Donna, and the rest of their family, we appreciate the loving gift and offer our sincere condolences.

Rita Valentine Trail Improvements

The Rocky Mountain Youth Corps started work on June 22th, 2020 and finished on July 3rd. They widened the main walking trail and poured fresh road base. Click Learn More for additional pictures.

Return Off-Leash Recreation, Parks & Trails

Our plan is taking shape in response to your comments.  We are suggesting that multiple areas across the city be approved simultaneously for off-leash use. This will keep neighborhood park and trail access fair and populations balanced.

Spring Poop Clean-up Day on Sunday, June 14, 2020 was a success!

This was Steamboat Digs Dogs first partnering with the Humane Society to do a Poop Clean-up Day in our community. 22 people helped with the project. At Noon we celebrated with pizza, beer and soft drinks at the Shelter, 760 Critter Court. There was a Group Photo (see above), Drawing for Prizes and a Presentation of the Humane Society’s Yellow Ribbon Program. Click Learn More to see who participated. SDD would like to thank all who regularly pickup after their pets and help when they see other poops left behind. All designated off-leash parks and trails are looking so much better!
